Organization Description:

Skill Training for Afghan Youth (STAY) is non-profit organization reregistered in Seattle WA. STAY's mission is to provide hands on skill training in the fields of Carpentry, Auto Mechanics, computer and TV repair, Metal works, Bookkeeping, Typing and some classes in peace and conflict resolution to those Afghan boys who have lost one or both of their parents in wars in Afghanistan. These boys either did not attend any school or were dropped out of school because they did not have any care taker or any one to support them. These children are doing nothing except hanging at the street corners with no education, no skills and no hope for the future. They are ready and available to be recruited by the drug growers, drug smugglers and possibly by the terrorists. STAY will find these youth and provide hands on skill training for them; STAY hopes that by providing skill training to these youth it will give a hope for their future. STAY will create a link between Vocational Training Institutes in Washington State in STAY's training centers in Afghanistan, STAY will invite the interested teachers and students from Washington State to visit and voluntarily teach in STAY's training centers. STAY hopes that these centers and activities will build small but very strong bridges of peace and understanding and friendship between the two people of the great United States and Afghanistan. STAY will also teach the youth how to use the solar energy, so that they can teach others in the area.
