Organization Description:
It is Global Visionaries' mission to educate and empower youth to become active community leaders and global citizens who promote social and environmental justice through community service at home and abroad. This is accomplished through local high school student participation in the yearlong Global Visionaries Youth Leadership Program. The program engages youth of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, 40% of current participants are students of color, in cross-cultural understanding workshops, anti-oppression training, local service-learning work teams, and an international cultural immersion and service-learning trip to Guatemala.
Example Project:
We have now engaged roughly 600 youth in service learning projects, at home and abroad, and we have made major gains in program diversity, with 40% of our current participants being students of color.
