Global Law Partners is a small international development consulting firm owned by women attorneys. We design, train, and evaluate anti-corruption, human rights, and rule of law programs focused on legislators, government officials, lawyers, judges, and civil society. Program Development * Established fast-track police-prosecutor anti-corruption teams and regional government anti-corruption offices in Bolivia * Led criminal and administrative law reform in Bolivia * Managed civil society grants, a mass media campaign, and an innovative anti-corruption curriculum for civil society in Bolivia * Oversaw expansion of Justice Houses for low-income communities in Colombia Program Evaluation * Evaluated and made recommendations for improving the national public defender service in the Dominican Republic * Evaluated and developed strategies to combat court congestion in the Philippines, interviewing and presenting results to judges, lawyers, advocates and government officials. * Assessed and prepared strategy recommendations for Philippine garment industry for enhancing trade worldwide, including survey of US clothing buyers and evaluation of global trends in garment manufacturing and exports over 40 years. * Evaluated and recommended strategies for Massachusetts Export Center on management structure, financial viability, and reporting criteria. * Surveyed 10,000 Bolivians for the country’s first comprehensive evaluation of the costs of corruption. Legislative Drafting * Co-drafted proposed Freedom of Information Act in El Salvador * Co-drafted USAID/MCC anti-corruption plan of action for Zambia * Co-wrote El Salvador’s first legal ethics curriculum and draft legal ethics code * Developed recommendations and drafted legislation on creation of a small claims court in the Philippines Training and Curriculum Development * Taught classes in trial advocacy for law students at Universidad Centroamericana in San Salvador; trained practicing attorneys in intensive trial advocacy workshops; developed trial advocacy training materials, including a video; developed an annotated bibliography of trial advocacy training materials available in Spanish; and wrote two hypothetical case files for teaching trial advocacy, based on the Salvadoran experience * Developed a pro bono program for large law firms, El Salvador’s first pro bono program * Taught comprehensive immigration course to students at the University of Washington School of Law Human Rights Advocacy * Prepared witnesses for class-action lawsuit against Radovan Karadzic and wrote sections of the brief on the Alien Tort Claims Act and international human rights violations in the Southern District of New York that earned $4.5 billion judgment. * Researched international law for Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa to determine the status of apartheid as a crime against humanity, genocide or cruel inhuman and degrading treatment. * Oversaw USAID Human Rights Program in Colombia
