An initial group of academic centers, businesses and nonprofit organizations engaged in global development were identified through research conducted in 2007 and are included in the directory.  If you are a member of an organization that you would like included in this directory, please review the criteria below and then add your listing.

To be eligible for inclusion, nonprofit organizations, businesses and university centers must be engaged in activities dedicated to improving the economic, social and/or environmental conditions of the world’s poorest people in developing countries.

The type of work undertaken varies by organization.  Generally, nonprofit organizations provide direct services, advocate, increase public awareness, make grants and/or build capacity; colleges and universities teach, conduct research and/or engage in community outreach; and businesses engage in philanthropy, provide goods and services to emerging markets, and/or demonstrate a clear commitment to sustainable business practices that affect the developing world.
